The Shure Check Fixture
consists of these five components:
- Solid state X-ray machine
- 3-point Vacuum chuck
- Rotary Angular Encoder with digital display
- Geiger-Muller Tube
- Digital/Analog Ratemeter
The check fixture measures the angle of the quartz wafer or blank by using
x-ray diffraction. A wafer or blank is positioned on the 3-point vacuum chuck,
an x-ray beam strikes it at the calculated Bragg angle, and the beam is diffracted
by the quartz into the Geiger-Muller tube. Peaks are displayed on Shure's
Digital/Analog Ratemeter. The analog meter gives the operator a quick average
setting while the microprocessor controlled digital display gives an exact
readout.
The opposite end of the 3-point chuck is linked to a rotary angular
encoder which transmits the exact angle in degrees, minutes, and seconds
to the digital electronic readout.
The Shure single station X-Ray Machine is equipped with a modern
air cooled tube submerged in a dielectric oil. A continuous duty 30 kv solid
state power supply is standard.
